Great Places To Go When Vacationing In Florida

By Brian Scott

The wonderful thing about the great state of Florida is that it is a prime getaway destination for many people wanting to go on vacation. From college kids making the most of their spring break to retired senior citizens seeking respite from winter temperatures, there is so much to love about the Sunshine State of America. Should you plan a visit here in the immediate future, here are some fabulous suggestions for your travel itinerary.

For starters, pack your bags and mosey on down to a little speck of land in the middle of the sea called Amelia Island. Wof theorlds away from the area of Big Sky, this humble isle is a shrimp fishing village that caters to a low key lifestyle. Dine in one of their many seafood restaurants or have a go with a round of golf in their golf courses.

In the historical war years of America, the country constructed many formidable fortresses and one of them can be found in the state. Castillo de San Marcos is situated by the sea and features a distinctive square shape with arrowhead ramparts. This monument remains intact to this day and is considered a top attraction of Florida.

Because the region has the longest stretch of coastline within the nation, this equates to Florida having a fantastic selection of public beaches. Peak season for these places is always during the summer, and a crowd favorite happens to be Fort Lauderdale Beach. Primarily facing the Atlantic Ocean, this golden coast is also home to some hip and posh establishments.

Outside of sun drenched shores, Florida is also the place where lots of rocket ships and artificial satellites are launched into space. A visit to the Kennedy Space Center will allow you to indulge in your inner space geek since this site is affiliated with NASA. But while you may not be able to do space travel, you can enjoy their tourist facilities such as movie theaters and museums.

When nature calls, the state offers more than just sun drenched beaches. In fact, if you prefer a more alternative route with exploring the wilderness of Florida, you can do no wrong by visiting the Everglades. This astonishingly unique ecosystem may seem like a swamp, but it is actually a sluggish river that is home to a wide variety of wild animals.

Of course, you simply cannot miss out on an epic drive on the marvelous Overseas Highway. Literally living up to its name, this incredible road structure is built over the Gulf of Mexico and connects the Floridan mainland to the nearby offshore islands. Many vehicles pass through this infrastructure and is often featured in many films and TV shows set in this fabulous region.

Finally, cap off your Floridan vacation with an obligatory pilgrimage to the wonder that is Walt Disney World. Of the many Disneyland parks scattered around the world, this one is viewed as the grandmother of them all. Situated in the heart of Orlando, this magical place is the place where you can enjoy amusement park rides and get to have the opportunity to interact with your favorite Disney characters.

As this guide clearly shows, you are totally spoiled for choice when holidaying in Florida. Be open to other options, but the ones featured above should be at the top of your personal travel itinerary. Do not be afraid to explore new places during your fabulous vacation time.
