Critics of these kinds of living environments have argued that they present a false sense of security. Statistics have shown that crime rate inside them is as high as that in other non-gated areas. By the fact that traffic is low inside the walls, crime is increased. Increased traffic serves to deter criminal behavior and the people can also be helpful during an incident.
