How To Become A Successful CPA Accountant

By Robert Williams

Accounting is a noble profession. It is one of the best professions not just in the United States of America but also in other countries such as Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, China, and Japan, among others. Accounting is definitely rewarding in every sense and respect. Of course, a person will be paid a salary at the end of the month. This salary will keep on increasing as one climbs the career ladder. Finally, at the end of the road, there will be a hefty pension. Thus, it is a good idea to become a CPA accountant.

One should not make a career decision in a hurried manner. As a matter of fact, a hurried decision will lead to regrets later. Thus, one should sit down and confirm whether accounting is the thing that he wants to do. Of course, joining accounting does not require any talent. However, one needs to have excelled in certain high school subjects.

Accounting has a lot of math. However, it is not the pure math that is found in scientific courses such as engineering. Rather, it is the financial side of math. Thus, a student who scored above average in high school math is a perfect candidate of an accounting course. In addition, having an average score or above in English is necessary.

After one has confirmed his qualifications and he has determined that he qualifies, the next step will be finding an institution of higher learning to join. This can be a college or a university. It is okay to start at the diploma level. There are many successful accountants who first started with a college diploma. Alternatively, one can undertake a degree.

One can choose an accounting diploma that involves two years of study. Alternatively, one can opt for the one of three years. It will all depend on personal preferences. For the case of the degree, four years of studies is usually recommended. However, it is possible to fast track the program and end up studying for fewer years.

Passing an accounting certificate or diploma course will make an individual to qualify for many clerical and junior accounting jobs. To become a senior accountant, one will need to do a degree. After completing the degree in question, an individual will be able to start an accredited certified accounting course. This course requires determination, diligence, patience, passion, and dedication.

Passing the certified accounting examination makes one automatically a CPA. Therefore, one will be able to join one of the most prestigious professions on earth. However, that is not the end of the road. One has to accumulate some experience so that to become a real expert. A five years experience will be a good starting point. One should also build connections.

An accountant is an important member of society. He is just as important as a doctor or even a teacher. Without payroll accountants, doctors and teachers cannot be paid and they will therefore stop working. Accounting is not only about the hard skills that an individual will obtain from a college or university. One will also need to have a good deal of soft skills.
